The Program Supervisor practices according to the code of ethics and practice standards of their specific discipline and supports the scope of practice and codes of ethics of other disciplines represented on their team.

About the Role
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Supervisor functions as part of a collaborative leadership team providing direct supervision to frontline staff and daily clinical direction and support to an interprofessional team. The Program Supervisor practices according to the code of ethics and practice standards of their specific discipline and supports the scope of practice and codes of ethics of other disciplines represented on their team.
The Program Supervisor will:
- Work in collaboration with the Program Manager and the Medical Lead(s) to support the development of a high functioning clinical team and support the provision of evidence-informed practice in the program(s).
- Complete clinical orientation; organize initial clinical shadowing/observation with other program staff, engage in clinical observation for new staff and explain clinical administrative processes to new staff.
- Provide coverage for therapist absences or vacancies. May cover group, family or individual therapy, as directed by the Program Manager.
- Support recruitment for relevant staff and participate in the interview and selection process.
- Provide EMR documentation training at onboarding and monitor for documentation adherence to Standards of Practice and program area-specific requirements, including file audits and regular clinical observation; inform the Program Manager of any concerns or issues.
- Work closely with staff members to develop performance goals and development plans, supporting the daily work to achieve the same, and support the completion of mid-year and annual performance evaluations in collaboration with staff and the Program Manager.
- Provide clinical supervision in alignment with the governing body of specific disciplines to support staff members in achieving additional regulatory status (i.e., provisional psychologists, social workers seeking clinical status) as assigned by Program Manager or Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to quality improvement processes by using enhanced skills in program design and evaluation.
- Ability to identify barriers and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with a solution-focused mindset
- Ability to work and communicate in a cooperative, respective manner with all staff.
- Experience, skills and/or training as a clinical supervisor of staff members. Student supervision is considered an asset but not equal to having experience supervising a staff team.
- Play therapy supervisor designation considered an asset.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team, and to prioritize work activities to achieve objectives.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft 365 products, EMR).
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant health discipline (e.g., psychology, social work, occupational therapy, nursing, etc.) from an accredited institution is required.
- Must be registered with the appropriate regulatory body for the health discipline in Alberta. In some situations, a national registration may be acceptable.
- A minimum of five years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Demonstrated clinical supervision experience, particularly in settings focused on specific populations such as children and adolescents.
- Demonstrated experience providing clinical treatment for child or youth mental health.
Conditions of Employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
