Salary range: $85,280 - $128,960
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

About the Role
The Manager, Communications is responsible for overseeing all departmental and reputational functions to support CASA Mental Health’s vision, including the planning, coordination and implementation of internal and external strategic communications.

The Manager, Communications will:
  • Lead and manage a Communications team comprised of communications specialists, a graphic designer and communications coordinators through:
      • Directing and assigning work.
      • Developing and coaching staff to achieve outcomes.
      • Holding individuals and the team accountable to outcomes in order to achieve operational deliverables.
      • Evaluating and providing timely feedback to staff on deliverables.
      • Regular performance objective setting and evaluation.
  • Participate in CASA’s operational leadership team and act as a touchpoint between the Communications team and other CASA staff or departments.
  • Develop and assign portfolio support within the team, and manage a select group of internal clients.
  • Create, review or approve communications material, including communications plans, media releases, newsletters, presentations, reports and visual communication.
  • Support and budget appropriate professional development opportunities for the Communications team.
  • In coordination with the Communications team and senior leadership, develop and manage CASA’s media relations program, including media monitoring, responsive and proactive media approaches, and coordination of all media opportunities and preparation.
  • Track and manage the Communications budget with Director, Communications and Philanthropy.
  • Oversee communications-related platforms and software, including survey, task management, social media management, stock photography, email communication and other platforms.
  • Attend and lead departmental and organizational meetings and events as assigned.
  • Oversee CASAs intranet and external website.
  • Liaise with appropriate departments to generate, collect and share communications-related data.
  • Develop, coordinate and deliver communications-related training and materials to CASA staff as needed.
  • Work with the Communications team to manage and measure CASA’s social media strategy and content pillars.
  • Create and maintain communications policies, guidelines and standards.

Qualifications
  • Seven to 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, business and marketing or a related field. Non-profit experience is an asset.
  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant subject area, such as communications, journalism, marketing or public relations. A diploma in a relevant subject may be supplemented with equivalent experience working in a similar role.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong planning, prioritization and analytical skills.
  • High level of initiative and desire to meet specific goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, requests and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Press Style and writing best practices.
  • Outstanding client service skills, ethical standards, tact, discretion and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and positively with colleagues.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with task management software such as Asana is preferred.
  • A passion for CASAs mission, vision and values.
