Salary range: $68,640 - $101,920
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, weekends as needed
Primary location: CASA Downtown/Hybrid

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Officer, Major Gifts is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and prospective major and legacy donors in Edmonton and northern Alberta. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio and implement a program aimed at one-on-one visits to identify and build relationships throughout the province, advocating for CASA and raising awareness and funds.


The Philanthropy Officer, Major Gifts will:
 
  • Nurture relationships with current supporters with an emphasis on securing support for campaign investments.
  • Foster new relationships in the community with individuals and small business owners who are passionate about improving child and adolescent mental health.
  • Build engagement strategies with senior volunteers in the community and other members of the team. 
  • Ensure that meetings are properly and diligently recorded in DonorPerfect to ensure relationships are captured accurately and appropriately.
  • Represent CASA Mental Health in the community at events, during face-to-face meetings and in a variety of other situations.
  • Raise funds to ensure a successful capital campaign.

Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in raising funds of $5,000 and greater directly with individuals or corporations. Related experience in sales, financial services and business development will be considered.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to comfortably start conversations with new people and build relationships through a strategy of written communication, phone calls and face-to-face visits.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write letters, emails and proposals with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Experience in strategy development and implementation around the giving cycle to secure major gifts.
  • Capital campaign fundraising experience is considered an asset.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset but not required.
 
Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • A valid Alberta driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
