CASA’s Communications team provides strategic communications support for internal and external communications – support that is even more important as the organization expands provincially.

Salary range: $62,464 - $93,167
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location: Hybrid/CASA Downtown
Union: Out of scope
FTE: 1.00
Status: Temporary until April 30, 2027

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Coordinator works collaboratively within the department, helping support communications needs for the organization as it expands provincially. The Communications Coordinator will showcase CASA people and programs in creative and engaging ways, keeping CASA’s values front and centre, while helping build awareness of and support for the organization and its expansion goals.

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Coordinator works collaboratively within the department, helping support communications needs for the organization as it expands provincially. The Communications Coordinator will showcase CASA people and programs in creative and engaging ways, keeping CASA’s values front and centre, while helping build awareness of and support for the organization and its expansion goals.
The Communications Coordinator will:
- Support internal and external communications focused on CASA’s main audiences.
- Support CASA’s awareness-raising initiatives as it expands from being primarily based in Edmonton to serving thousands of children, youth and families across Alberta.
- Advise on digital storytelling throughout the organization, including seeking patient stories and working with departments on creating and developing stories that explain what CASA does and the role it plays in Alberta’s mental health care system.
- Support the publishing of internal and external newsletter publications (e.g. maintain distribution lists, collect and organize content, and collect analytics).
- Maintain and develop content for CASA’s employee intranet and external website.
- Monitor shared email inboxes and escalate as necessary.
- Provide general communications support to the department and organization, including basic design and layout, writing and editing, and content development.
- Create and maintain templated products, e.g. letterhead, PowerPoint, posters, forms and any policies, guidelines and standards related to these products.
- Identify and implement regular updates to publications and promotional materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in WordPress, Elementor, ThoughtFarmer or other web management programs is an asset.
- Experience in Asana or other project management software is an asset.
- Experience working in mental health, non-profit, philanthropy or any related fields is an asset.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary or continuing education in communications, marketing, journalism or public relations. A certificate or diploma in a relevant subject may be supplemented with equivalent experience working in a similar role.
- Experience with writing, proofreading and editing web content.
