About the Family Therapy Program
You will be part of a team that helps families understand each others needs and find better ways to work together. You will work with families with complicated dynamics and at least one child with a diagnosed mental health disorder using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches.

Salary/Wage range: $44.03 to $56.60 per hour
Shift structure: Monday to Friday

About the Role
CASAs Family Therapy Clinic helps families understand each others needs and find better ways to work together. The Family Therapy team uses evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, and works with families with complicated dynamics.

The Mental Health Therapist will:
  • Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality family therapy to children, teens and families.
  • Assist caregivers caring for children with exceptional needs in building specialized parenting skills.
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.
  • Coordinate consultation with other therapists or external partners as appropriate.
  • Provide supervision or preceptorship for student placements.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
  • Deliver care and learning from reflecting team’s co-therapy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering family therapy-related modalities is an asset (e.g. emotion-focused family therapy, the Gottman Method, attachment-focused family therapy).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Masters degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.
  • Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.

Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
