Primary location: CASA Fort Road (multi-site) and remote

About the Role
The Clinical Practice team (Rural Services) is a collaborative inter-professional group that works to build capacity in mental health service providers through coaching, mentoring, education and consultation. The team supports service providers in rural communities across Alberta.
The Mental Health Consultant will:
- Provide advanced advice, input, treatment direction or alternate perspectives to professional colleagues using a consultative model. Topics may include assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans, discharge planning and potential referrals.
- Create education and training materials for learning events by working collaboratively with the other consultants.
- Deliver education and training events virtually and in-person.
- Support the development of knowledge and skill by coaching and mentoring children’s mental health therapists.
- Act as a resource to team members and regional service providers on issues related to specific areas of expertise.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in psychology, social work (psycho-social intervention designation is required), occupational therapy or nursing.
- A minimum of 10 years of direct clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Advanced competence in children’s mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
- Must be a member in good standing with their respective professional association/college.
- Advanced computer skills with MS Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) including application to formal writing. Some experience or training in adult education is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of the discipline including clinical practice, supervision and education.
- Enhanced skills in knowledge translation and education, program design and evaluation is desirable.
- Ability to identify barriers and facilitate solution development.
- Ability to work autonomously, independently and to prioritize work activities.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new or unexpected situations, and a flexibile approach to interpersonal situations.
- Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving ability.
- Appreciation of an inter-professional approach to mental health and demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.
- Ability to work across programs and services.
- Please note: This position requires travel to rural communities. Overnight travel (usually limited to one or two nights away) is a regular, though not frequent occurrence.

- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
