The Recreation Coordinator will:
- Ensure adolescents are involved in meaningful recreational activities.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members to ensure the day-to-day unit operations are delivered.
- Provide guidance, support, supervision and case management to adolescents and their families in the program.
- Effectively liaise with resources in the community while also representing CASA Mental Health in a professional manner.
- Maintain and track recreation budget.
- Report patient safety events which could have or did cause patient harm.
- Strive to improve practices and procedures in order to improve service outcomes and patient safety.
- Lead by example in the area of occupational health and safety.
- Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
- Diploma or degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
- Previous experience working in children’s mental health.
- Fluent in case management and supportive counselling for adolescents and their families.
- Clinically effective in building rapport with adolescents and their families.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Positive and energetic demeanour.
Conditions of Employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
