About the Role 
CASA House is a live-in program for teens who need support with significant mental health and/or addictions challenges. Teens stay at CASA House for an average of four months. The program involves parents and caregivers as active participants in treatment. Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy, social and life skills training, and on-site schooling in small classroom settings. 
 
Responsibilities

  • Plan meals by preparing the menu. 

  • Prepare and serve meals according to the menu and individualized nutritional plans. 

  • Monitor the food budget and adjust according to suppliers, inventory and meal planning to meet budgetary requirements. 

  • Order food and sanitation supplies, and ensure proper handling and storage. 

  • Ensure CASA House food services continually comply with the Public Health Act – Food Regulation standards and meet with the Public Health Inspector. 

  • Ensure equipment is in working order and inventory levels are sufficient (i.e. aprons, gloves, hair nets, etc.) 

 
Qualifications:

  • Food Handling Certification is an asset. 

  • WHMIS certificate is an asset. 

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and its application to food services for adolescents. 

  • Experience preparing meals in institutional settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, or similar organizations is an asset. 

  • Experience in food ordering, following the direction of a Dietitian for menu planning, and ensuring proper food service, handling, and storage in accordance with safety standards. 

  • Knowledge of and experience using commercial food equipment. 

  • Friendly and client-focused, with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

  • Ability to work with an adolescent population. 

  • Must have open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate scheduling needs. 

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. 

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, work in varying temperatures, and lift up to 25kg. 

 
Conditions of Employment:

  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
